2 Days 1 Nights Jambo Safari

things to do in ngorongoro

This safari will take you to the Tarangire National Park, a day after day of cloudless skies. The fierce tropical sun sucks the landscape dry, baking the earth a dusty red, withering the grass until it’s as brittle and yellow as straw. The Tarangire River has shriveled to a shadow of its wet season self. But it is choked with wildlife. Thirsty nomads have wandered hundreds of parched kilometers knowing that here, always, there is water. This park is reputed to contain some of the largest elephant herds in Tanzania or even in Africa. This African national park is also home to three rare species of animals – the Greater Kudu, the Fringed-eared Oryx, as well as a few Ashy Starlings.
Finally, your safari will also take you to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, it is the world-class tourist destination with wildlife coexisting with semi-nomadic Maasai pastoralist practicing traditional livestock grazing. You will spend your whole day inside the spectaculars Ngorongoro Crater (250 km2), which is the world’s largest unbroken caldera in the Eastern(Great) Rift valley. There is highest density of mammalian predators in Africa including the densest known population of lion. Also, there is range of endangered species such as the black rhino, wild hunting dog and Golden cat. It is the only conservation area in the world where visitors are likely to see elephant, rhino, lion, leopard and buffalo, in their natural environment, with a span of four-hours driven inside the Ngorongoro creator.
For those who will want a different test they normally choose the Lake Manyara National Park, nestled below the dramatic Rift valley escarpment. This unique park provides an ideal wildlife habitat for the African blue monkey, bush and waterbuck, the nocturnal aardvark as well as the vervets, the favorite prey of the leopard. The forest, which produces an abundant number of wild fruits and figs, is a great attraction for the majestic African elephant and the few remaining black rhino in the park. The Hippo Pool located in the Simba River, not only attracts these 3000kg animals, but many of the parks nearly 400 species of birds, including the predatory fish eagle, which lives in and around the Hippo Pool.

Supported by year-round water supply and fodder, the Ngorongoro National Park supports a vast variety of animals, which include herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants. Another big draw card to this picturesque national park is its huge population of predators, which include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and the ever-elusive leopard.
